Tunisian side Sfaxien reached the African Confederation Cup final despite losing 1-0 at Hilal as they beat the Sudanese side 5-3 on penalties on Sunday. Hilal, trailing 1-0 from the first leg, laid siege to Sfaxien's area from the very beginning to level the aggregate score. They were rewarded when Mudathir El Tahir, nicknamed Karika, headed home a cross after 12 minutes. Neither side could score until the final whistle as the match directly went into penalties to determine who would face FUS Rabat of Morocco in the final of Africa's secondary competition. Sfaxien managed to convert all five spot kicks while Nigerian defender Yusuf Mohamed was the culprit for Hilal, wasting the team's fourth penalty to deny them a place in the final. The Tunisian outfit will make their third appearance in the Confederation Cup final in four years. They won the 2007 and 2008 editions at the expense of Sudan's Merreikh and Tunisia's Etoile Sahel respectively.
