A first-half strike from Mounir El-Hamdaoui gave Morocco a vital 1-0 victory at Tanzania in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday. The Ajax Amsterdam forward notched home three minutes before the break to help Morocco move top of Group D. He fired a superb left-footed volley past the keeper from a tight angle after a headed pass from strike partner Marouane Chamakh. Morocco, who were held to a surprise draw by Central Africa in their first group game, have four points from two games. Algeria and Central Africa, who both have one point, meet in the other group match on Sunday.
