Bayern Munich kicked off the defense of their Bundesliga title with a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg on Friday. The Bavarians, who also reached the Champions League final last season, needed nine minutes to take the lead through Thomas Mueller. The joint World Cup top scorer beautifully exchanged passes with Toni Kroos and flicked the ball over his challenger before sending a left-footed volley into the bottom corner. Striker Edin Dzeko, who was the Bundesliga top scorer last season, grabbed the equalizer in the 55th minute when he headed home a corner from Zvjezdan Misimovic. Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger struck in stoppage time to give Bayern an opening win. He tapped in a deep cross from Franck Ribery at the far post as Wolfsburg lost in coach Steve McClaren's debut.
