Paraguay registered a 2-0 win over a lackluster Slovakia to move top of Group F and edge closer to the knockouts. A goal in each half by midfielders Enrique Vera and Cristian Riveros gave the South Americans their fourth point in South Africa. Italy take on minnows New Zealand later on Sunday as Slovakia lie bottom with one point. Paraguay looked the brighter of the two sides from the start as they posed constant threat with their three-man frontline. In the 27th minute, the goal came when Lucas Barrios threaded a fine pass for Vera, who delightfully steered home past Jan Mucha with the outside of his boot. Roque Santa Cruz had a clear-cut chance to double the lead, but was denied with an excellent save by Mucha. The second half was a completely boring affair, with the exception of Riveros' left-footed strike five minutes from time.
