Contractors coach to learn fate after Egyptian Cup
Published in FilGoal on 19 - 05 - 2010

The future of Arab Contractors coach Mohamed Amer is uncertain yet although the club survived relegation on the final day of the Egyptian Premier League.
Contractors, who have not been relegated since returning to the Premier League in 2005 under current Egypt coach Hassan Shehata, crushed 10-man Petrojet 3-0 to stay among the Premier League elites.
They finished 11th in the 16-team table with 34 points, three ahead of Ghazl Mahalla who occupied the last relegation place.
Amer took over at Contractors last summer but could not make a notable impact, with the team struggling to retain their top-flight status.
"We will sit down with Amer after the end of the season to discuss everything related to the team," the club's board member Osama Al-Seidi told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.
"We will then make a decision over the future of the team's technical staff."
Contractors have been struggling for more than a decade after enjoying a fruitful spell in the 1980s and 1990s.
They won the African Cup Winners Cup three times and the Egyptian Cup two times but faltered after failing to keep up with the financial demands of football.
Although the club is run by huge construction company Arab Contractors, their football budget is not up to scratch.
The Mountain Wolves enjoyed another fine spell, albeit a brief one, under Shehata in 2003 and 2004.
They won a third Egyptian Cup title and then clinched the Super Cup at the expense of Cairo giants Ahli and Zamalek respectively.
