Zamalek defender Mahmoud Fathallah picked up a major head injury that needed 19 stitches but his condition became stable after he was hospitalized, the Cairo club said. The 28-year-old collided with Asyut Petroleum's Cameroonian defender Masinga Vintal in the air to suffer a severe wound to his head. Fathallah, who was bleeding horrifically, was stretchered off and hospitalized, making way for Amr Adel few minutes before the interval. After Thursday's league game, which Zamalek won 4-1 to secure a CAF Champions League berth, Sabri Serag reassured the White Knights' fans "Fathallah was rushed to hospital right after the match and he needed 19 stitches in his head," the Zamalek board member told Nile Sports. "His condition is stable now. He had an X-ray which confirmed that he didn't sustain minor concussion. "He was fully aware the whole time. He didn't lie in bed for long and was able to talk to everybody. "It's wasn't serious at all."
