Mido wastes penalty in West Ham draw
Published in FilGoal on 04 - 04 - 2010

Mido did his prospects of staying in the Premier League next season no favor by wasting a penalty in West Ham's 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
West Ham coach Gianfranco Zola opted to keep faith with Mido, who spurned a golden opportunity in the team's 1-0 defeat by Stoke City last week.
He included him in the starting line up as the Egyptian striker, who joined the Hammers in January on loan until the end of the season, partnered Carlton Cole up front.
Everton took the lead after 24 minutes through a close-range header from Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.
West Ham had the chance to equalize five minutes before the break when they were awarded a penalty after Cole was fouled by Sylvain Distin inside the Everton box.
Mido, who scored one goal with Egyptian giants Zamalek in the first half of the season, stepped up with the hope of netting his first goal with West Ham.

West Ham eventually equalize
However, Everton keeper Tim Howard dived to his right to save the towering frontman's effort.
Mido was booked shortly after for a challenge on Everton's South African midfielder Steven Piennar.
Manuel Da Costa atoned for Mido's wasted penalty when he equalized for West Ham on the hour mark.
Nigerian striker Yakubu restored Everton's advantage with five minutes remaining as the hosts looked on course for a win that would have dented West Ham's hopes of avoiding relegation.
But Brazilian striker Ilan, who replaced the out-of-sorts Mido in the 77th minute, came to West Ham's rescue with an 87th-minute goal to help them secure a share of spoils.
West Ham lie 17th in the league table with 28 points, one ahead of Amr Zaki's Hull City who occupy the final relegation place but still have a game in hand.
