Qatar coach Bruno Metsu promised Hussein Yasser to keep tabs on him following his superb displays of late, the Zamalek winger said on Wednesday. Yasser joined Zamalek in January to end a frustrating spell at their arch-rivals Ahli and resurrect his career in the Egyptian Premier League. He was a fringe player at Ahli but was given a new lease of life under Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan, who heavily relied on him to break down opponents. The 27-year-old, who scored his maiden goal with the White Knights in their 2-1 league victory over Military Production last week, repaid Hassan's faith with a string of impressive displays. He hopes his current form could prompt Metsu to recall him to Qatar's squad after falling out of favor with the French manager due to lack of playing time during his spell with Ahli. "Metsu phoned me and said he is very happy with the performances I produce," Yasser, an Egyptian-born Qatari international, told FilGoal.com. "He said he intends to bring me back to the national team. He also told me that he would visit Egypt and watch me in action in the Cairo derby. "His encouraging words will motivate me to do even better in the coming period." Yasser will come face to face with his former side when Zamalek meet Ahli in the Cairo derby on April 16. Leaders Ahli, who chase a sixth consecutive league title, are six points clear of second-placed Zamalek with a game in hand.
