Roma's 2-1 Serie A victory over Inter Milan blew the title race wide open and boosted their hopes of causing a huge surprise come the end of the season. The Giallorossi were struggling at the wrong end of the table for several weeks but have made a huge progress since coach Claudio Ranieri took over at the club. They are now just one point behind leaders Inter, who chase a fifth successive league title. "We're not hiding our Scudetto ambitions, but we are still a point behind," Roma coach Claudio Ranieri said. "There's a long way to go and it'll be a real battle of wills, as points can be dropped or picked up. "We're in the final straight now, the lads are in good shape and we can target the Scudetto." Roma took the lead against Inter through a goal from Daniele De Rossi after 17 minutes. Argentinean striker Diego Milito leveled the score six minutes past the hour mark but Roma's towering frontman Luca Toni gave his side a precious win when he fired home 18 minutes from time. "It was an important game, but not just for me, for all of Rome and the people who follow us," Ranieri added. "We made sacrifices and fought back for five months, now we have beaten a stratospheric side like Inter."
