Zamalek are eyeing Ahli's out-of-favor striker Ahmed Belal to bolster their attack, the club's football director Ibrahim Hassan said on Friday. The Cairo giants have been on the lookout for a new frontman since Amr Zaki and Mido left the club in January to join English sides Hull City and West Ham respectively. Shortage of options up front is undermining Zamalek's abilities to break down opponents, with duo Ahmed Gaafar and Sherif Ashraf hardly proving to be reliable. Belal, who rarely features for Ahli, is unlikely to extend his contract with the Red Devils that will run out at the end of the season. Zamalek are considering making a move for him next summer, Ibrahim Hassan says. "We are interested in Belal, he could be one of our summer acquisitions," he told FilGoal.com. "However, we are yet to open talks with him because some reports said that we have already signed him. This is not true." Belal, 39, was one of Ahli's prominent stars in the early 2000s and was a regular member of Egypt's squad. His natural goal-scoring abilities helped him seal a move to Turkish side Konyaspor in 2005 but he never recaptured the form that saw him rated as one of the most fearsome strikers in Egypt. He also had a brief spell with Ankaragucu in Turkey before returning to Ahli in 2007. Zamalek are also expected to sign Military Production's Ivorian striker Abou Kone.
