Hassan Shehata is ready to take over at Nigeria on a temporary basis if the Egyptian FA give him the green light, the Egypt coach said on Sunday. The 60-year-old manager has been added to Nigeria's shortlist for their vacant managerial seat after they sacked Shaibu Amodu on Saturday. The Nigerian Football Federation are believed to have offered him the chance to lead them at this year's World Cup finals in South Africa "I should get the EFA's approval first," Shehata, who is considered one of the best coaches in Africa, told Egyptian radio. "All of my assistants will accompany me if the EFA accept Nigeria's offer." The Super Eagles were drawn with Argentina, South Korea and Greece in Group B of the World Cup. Shehata made history after guiding Egypt to an unprecedented third successive Nations Cup title in Angola. The former Arab Contractors coach, who was also at the helm when the Pharaohs won the 2006 and 2008 tournaments, was widely praised for winning the biennial tournament with a squad that mainly consists of home-based players. Egypt do not have competitive commitments in 2010 but will play two high-profile friendly games against England on March 3 and Spain in June. "We will take those matches very seriously because we want to prove that we deserve to be crowned African champions for the third consecutive time," Shehata added.
