Egypt coach Hassan Shehata was not included in Nigeria's shortlist for their vacant managerial seat after they sacked Shaibu Amodu on Saturday. Nigeria dispensed with Amodu following their disappointing third-place finish in the African Cup of Nations in Angola. Shehata, who guided Egypt to an unprecedented third consecutive Nations Cup triumph, said recently he was approached by Nigeria to lead them at the summer's World Cup in South Africa. However, the Nigeria Football Federation did not name him in their list of candidates to take over at the Super Eagles. The list included Dutchman Guus Hiddink, Frenchman Bruno Metsu, former Ghana coach Ratomir Djukovic, Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal and former England caretaker coach Peter Taylor. Nigeria were drawn with Argentina, South Korea and Greece in Group B of the World Cup.
