President of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Samir Zaher said Friday night the way Nigeria handled Hassan Shehata's candidacy for their managerial post was unacceptable. Egypt's coach Shehata is included in Nigeria's five-man shortlist for the vacant position, along with Swedish Lars Lagerback, Serbian Ratomir Djukovic, French Bruno Metsu and Englishman Peter Taylor. He was invited by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to hold talks with them on February 26 over the possibility of managing the Super Eagles, who will play in next June's World Cup finals in South Africa, on a temporary basis. The NFF officials will also sit down with the other candidates to settle on the best possible choice. "Shehata should not be tested; this is unacceptable," Zaher told local media. “It is very strange that a manager of Shehata's calibre should have to be tested. After all, he's won three African Cup of Nations [ACN] titles in a row with Egypt. Shehata is a big name in the world of soccer and experts should deal with him on that basis.” Nigeria are on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Shaibu Amodu, who could only guide them to a third-place finish in the ACN last month. Shehata said he wished to lead them in the World Cup finals, having failed to help Egypt book a place in football's most prestigious event. Nigeria have been drawn with Argentina, South Korea and Greece in Group B of the World Cup.
