Hassan Shehata has been added to a shortlist of managers tipped to take charge of Nigeria in the 2010 World Cup, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) said. After announcing the sacking of Shaibu Amodu on Friday, the NFF named five candidates for the vacant job, excluding Shehata. However, the Egypt boss joined the list of European managers. "Yes, Shehata has been added to this shortlist, making him the sixth coach Nigeria are considering to lead the country to the World Cup in South Africa in June," said NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire. The list includes Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal, Frenchman Bruno Metsu, ex-Ghana boss Ratomir Djukovic, Peter Taylor and Guus Hiddink, who is currently in charge of Russia. It is believed that the Egyptian FA are reluctant to let Shehata join the Super Eagles on a temporary basis. But the Zamalek legend, who led Egypt to an historic third straight African Cup of Nations titles, is keen to take the rare opportunity. Nigeria will announce their final decision by the end of the month.
