Angola coach Manuel Jose rued his side's missed chances following their 1-0 defeat to Ghana in the African Cup of Nations quarter finals on Sunday. The tournament hosts missed out on a place among the last four after a first-half goal from Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan sank them in Luanda. They could have leveled the score on numerous occasions but squandered some clear-cut chances. "We could not break them down. We missed too many chances and luck was not on our side," Jose said after the game. "Our forwards tried their best to get goals, but it was simply not their day. I think my side deserved the victory, but could not achieve it. "I can't fault any aspect of my side's play, the effort was there, they tried hard, the only thing is that they could not score." Striker Manucho was the culprit though, wasting several goalscoring chances either side of the interval. "This is what happens in football. I tried my best," the 26-year-old, who plays for Spanish side Real Valladolid, commented. It remains to be seen whether Jose would step down from his post after Angola failed to make it to the semi finals. The Portuguese tactician left Egyptian champions Ahli, whom he led to a host of local and continental titles, last summer to take over at the Palancas Negras.
