Hull, Ajax lead race for Mido
Published in FilGoal on 19 - 01 - 2010

Hull City, another English Premier League side and Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam are holding talks with Mido over a possible move in January, the Zamalek striker said on Tuesday.
Mido admitted he is on his way out of Cairo club Zamalek, whom he joined on a season-long loan from English second-division side Middlesbrough last summer.
"I'm 90 percent certain that I will leave Zamalek before the closure of the transfer window," he said in a telephone interview with Modern Sport.
"Hull have been talking to me for a month now and another English club, who I can not name at the moment, are also interested.
"This club, who have a great history, lie in the top half of the table and will table an official bid to sign me within two or three days.
"Ajax coach Martin Jol, who was my manager at Tottenham Hotspur, also discussed the possibility of me joining his side."
Mido, who has scored one goal since returning to his boyhood club Zamalek, could be reunited with Amr Zaki yet again after Hull City signed the Bulldozer on loan until the end of the season.
However, the prospect of moving to Ajax, the club where Mido blossomed in his early days in European football, is more appealing to him.

Mido-Zaki relationship not so warm
"I prefer to join Ajax, where I will have a chance to feature in the Europa League," he added.
Mido, who turns 27 next month, played a key role in helping Ajax win the league and cup double in 2002 but some disciplinary problems forced him out one year later.
He also revealed that Turkish side Galatasaray were one of the clubs who expressed an interest in signing him.
Following Zaki?
Mido firmly refuted reports suggesting that he intentionally follows Zaki to every club he joins to cause him problems.
Both sides played at Wigan Athletic last season and were reunited again at Zamalek this term.
They were involved in an infamous wrangle last year following Egypt's 1-1 draw with Zambia in the World Cup qualifiers, with Mido accusing Zaki of trying to 'blemish his reputation'.
"I never cause problems for Zaki. I had nothing to do with the problems he had with (then Wigan coach) Steve Bruce last season nor had any role in his current troubles with Zamalek," Mido said.
"I played with many stars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Didier Drogba, Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano so why should I follow Zaki?"
