Zamalek are close to signing Algerian midfielder Khaled Lemmouchia from ES Setif, the player's agent said on Thursday. "Setif chairman Abdelhakim Serrar will sit down with Zamalek vice-president Raouf Gaser on Friday to hold talks over Lemmouchia's transfer," Salem Mohamed told FilGoal.com. "The financial aspects of the deal will be also discussed during this meeting." Lemmouchia, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, is part of Algeria's squad that will face Egypt in a crunch World Cup qualifier on Saturday. Zamalek have hardly found a reliable player in the heart of their midfield following the departure of Tamer Abdul-Hamid in the summer of 2008. They signed several holding midfielders in the close season, including free agent and former Ahli man Hassan Mostafa and Ghanaian Ibrahim Ayew but neither made a notable impact. The Cairo giants' inconsistent run of results leaves them in sixth place in the Egyptian Premier League table with 11 points from eight games.
