Manchester United guardian Edwin van der Sar will be out until the end of September with a hand injury, the Premiership champions said. The 38-year-old Dutchman has undergone surgery on a broken finger and bone in his left hand after the pre-season Audi Cup tournament in Germany. Van der Sar sustained the injury while saving a penalty from Bayern Munich's Daniel Pranjic in the Bavarians' 7-6 shootout win. United will now have to rely on either Ben Foster or Tomasz Kuszczak in their upcoming domestic challenges. The English champions will clash with Chelsea in the Community Shield at the weekend, before hosting Birmingham in the Premier League's opener next week.
