Barcelona defender Martin Caceres is close to signing for Juventus, who have recently showed interest in his services, the player's agent revealed. The 22-year-old moved to Nou Camp last year from Villarreal, but his failure to establish himself as a starter urged him to consider leaving the European champions. The Uruguay ace is now touted to be Juventus' next arrival, after he has reached an agreement with the Serie A side. "Martin has reached a transfer agreement with Juventus," Caceres' representative Daniel Fonseca told Radio Carve. "There are still a few details to be resolved. But the agreement between the team and the player exists. "For Barcelona, the difficulties are that they paid nearly €10million (£8.6m) and don't want to let Martin go on a loan. Therefore, everything seems to have been arranged."
Poulsen Funds Juventus president Giovanni Coboli Gigli confirmed reports suggesting that the Old Lady will have to sell their midfielder Christian Poulsen in order to raise enough funds to land Caceres. "It (a Caceres bid) is more than just rumors but it is also linked to Poulsen and the fact that we have to bring money in," said Coboli Gigli. Poulsen poses an unnecessary financial burden on Juventus, given that his yearly income is around £2 million whereas he hasn't been featuring for them regularly. The Danish international is said to be on the lookout for a new adventure to play more first-team football, so as he can guarantee a spot in Denmark's squad for the World Cup should they qualify. Poulsen was approached by Turkey's Fenerbahce early in the current transfer window, but his wife objected to the move.
