Zamalek have completed the signing of midfielder Hassan Mostafa on a free transfer, the Cairo club said on Sunday. The 30-year-old, who was released by Ahli last week, penned a two-year deal after passing a medical at Zamalek. Mostafa is looking to revive his career after two disappointing seasons with Ahli, where he struggled with fitness and form. "I am very happy to be a Zamalek player. I hope this move can help me regain my form and then I could return to the national team," the combative midfielder told FilGoal.com.
While signing the contract "I have to mention the great spell I had with Ahli and I don't want the fans to be upset because I joined their rivals." On the other hand, Zamalek are overhauling their midfield after failing to find a reliable player in that position during the past few years. They released veteran midfielder Mohamed Aboul-Ella and brought in Ghanaian international Ibrahim Ayew and Ahmed Tharwat, who joined from second-division side Rabat.
