Amr Zaki has been included in Zamalek's 18-man preliminary squad for the new season, the Cairo giants said on Thursday. The combative striker, who spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic, is yet to receive any offers to continue his European adventure. "I will stay at Zamalek if things remain as it is," Zaki told Al-Hayat TV. Zaki produced some brilliant displays in the Premiership, scoring 10 goals to become Wigan's top scorer. However, his lack of commitment apparently cost him a permanent deal with the Latics. The 26-year-old, who missed Egypt's Confederations Cup campaign, is currently nursing a thigh injury. Diminutive striker Sherif Ashraf was also named in Zamalek's squad despite being linked with a move away from the club, as was right-back Ahmed Ghanem. The White Knights' new signings – Ahmed Gaafar, Ibrahim Ayew, Mohamed Abdul-Shafi, Ahmed Tharwat, Sayed Mosaad and Amir Azmi – will be registered in their final squad.
