Manuel Jose announced Ahli's line-up for the Cairo derby against Zamalek without the inclusion of striker Hani Al-Egeizi as veteran midfielder Ahmed Hassan was given the nod. Earlier on Thursday, reports indicated that former Baladeya man Al-Egeizi, who scored Ahli's equalizer in last weekend's 1-1 Champions League draw with Kano Pillars, would start the game. But Portuguese boss Jose opted to play with a lone striker in Flavio Amado, who will be supported by star playmaker Abou-Treika and Egypt skipper Hassan. On the other hand, Zamalek coach Michel Decastel did not field a natural playmaker. The swiss will play with three defensive midfielders in Hani Saied, Ahmed Abdul-Raouf and Ahmed Al-Merghani. In-form striker Sherif Ashraf will play alongside veteran frontman and Zamalek's all-time top scorer Abdul-Halim Ali.
