Chijioke Abai believes joining Ahli will enhance his chances of earning a call-up to Nigeria squad. The 21-year-old striker has been officially unveiled as a new Ahli player on Thursday. Abai, who moved to the Red Devils as a free agent, put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal that will take effect after the end of the season. "Wearing the Ahli jersey will put me on the right path to fulfill my ambition of playing for Nigeria," the former Enugu Rangers man told the club's official website. "I've been a follower of Ahli in the past few years, during which they won a host of continental trophies. I hope to win with the club more African titles. "I'm also happy to play along with Mohamed Abou-Treika, Flavio Amado and Wael Gomaa as I know them very well." Abai is Ahli's second signing for the next season following the acquisition of Olympic defender Ateya Al-Belkasi.
