Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric said he can't understand why a talented player like Cristiano Ronaldo resorts to "whining" on pitch. Modric's side lost to Manchester United 4-1 on penalties in the Carling Cup final earlier this week in a game that saw Ronaldo get cautioned for diving. "He's an excellent player, but he really overdoes the theatrical bits," Modric was quoted as saying in British media on Wednesday. Ronaldo, the FIFA Player of the Year in 2008, has been repeatedly blasted by opponents for diving and showing off. And Modric, who joined the Premier League just last summer, believes that such behavior is not acceptable in England. "In England, where fairness is especially kept in mind and where a masculine, fair game is the law, such whining stands out even more," he said. "I don't know what good it will do him."
