Ahli went back to Cairo by armored vehicles affiliated to the Egyptian security forces, following the outrageous events during and after their game at Ismaili in the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday. The match was distinctly ill-tempered, as the home side's spectators kept on hurling chairs, fireworks and other missiles throughout the game. The Red Devils had to wait at the stadium for four hours after the match in order to make sure the hooligans no longer pose threat, then were escorted out by security men. The match ended in a 1-0 win for Ahli, therefore it was widely expected the Dervishes' frustrated supporters would engage with the winners should the latter get on their bus.
