Schalke drew 1-1 with Bundesliga leaders Hoffenheim at Carl Benz Stadium on Sunday.
Despite the draw, Hoffe remain on top of the Bundesliga table level on 35 points with Bayern Munich. Schalke are seventh with 27 points from 17 games.
Die Knappen took a 40th minute lead through Gerald Asamoah, after the former German international was released through by Halil Altintop.
Hoffenheim leveled the score on 72 minutes when skipper Selim Teber converted a brilliant free kick from the edge of the Schalke box.
Schalke saw Jermaine Jones dismissed on 58 minutes, followed by Orlando Engelaar's sending off in the 80th minutes.
However, Ralf Rangnick's men couldn't take advantage of their numerical advantage to share the spoils with their visitors.
