Wigan should've signed Zaki permanently – Mazembe star
Published in FilGoal on 25 - 11 - 2008

TP Mazembe forward Tresor Mputu, who's being chased by a number of Premiership clubs, said that Wigan Athletic made a mistake by not signing Amr Zaki permanently.
Both Blackburn Rovers and Hull City want to trial Mputu, who stressed that African superstars have become good enough to play in Europe without undergoing trials.
Zaki, who's on a one-year loan at Wigan from Zamalek has set the Premiership alight by scoring eight goals for the Latics so far in the season.
"Wigan took a gamble not signing Zaki permanently," Mputu was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"I don't know why, as we all knew Zaki is a quality player and has proved himself on this continent."
The DR Congo international added that he'd prefer joining a club that believe in his potential, rather than undergoing a probation period in England.
"My agent is saying he has trials in the UK for me, and to be honest my ambition is to play in England - but no English club wants to sign me straightaway.
"And look at Wigan, I think they are paying that price now with Zaki of Egypt."
Zaki's displays caught the interest of some of Europe's biggest sides, who might well beat Wigan in signing the striker comes the end of the loan deal.
