Gaish failed to build on their surprising victory over Zamalek as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Telecom Egypt in Sunday's league game. Telecom went to the lockers room two up, thanks to goals from Ahmed Gaafar and Moataz Mahrous. Gaafar, who is the league's joint top scorer with Ismaili midfielder Abdullah Saied, took his tally to six goals in eight matches. Gaish striker Sameh Adrous pulled one back in the 54th minute but Ahmed Omran restored Telecom's two-goal cushion in the 75th minute. Mohsen Al-Shahat narrowed the gap once again four minutes later but Telecom held onto their lead to claim a valuable win. They moved to the fifth spot on 14 points while Gaish, who defeated Cairo giants Zamalek 1-0 last week in the debut of new coach Farouk Gaafar, slipped to the 12th spot on nine points. Elsewhere, Harras Hodoud chalked up their second successive win after defeating the struggling Tersana 2-0. Veteran striker Abdul-Hamid Bassiouni opened the scoring as early as the third minute and Mohamed Halim sealed the win six minutes before the break.
