Al-Sayed pledges future to Zamalek
Published in FilGoal on 04 - 09 - 2008

Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed ended speculation about his future at Zamalek by revealing that he is close to extending his deal with the Cairo giants.
Widespread reports suggested that the long-serving Zamalek keeper was on his way out of the club after growing increasingly frustrated with criticism of his displays.
Al-Sayed, who returned from a lengthy injury lay-off at the start of the season, was criticized for his performances against Zamalek's arch-rivals Ahli in two successive matches.
Ahli defeated Zamalek twice in the space of eight days last month as both sides met in the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Super Cup.
Mohamed Abdul-Monsef, who used to be Zamalek's stand-in guardian, replaced Al-Sayed between the sticks afterwards, but he rarely impressed.
He even committed some dreadful errors in the team's stunning 3-0 defeat to ASEC Mimosas in the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
Al-Sayed, whose contract runs out next summer, is now being lined up to retain his status as Zamalek's first-choice goalie.
Zamalek Stay
“I intend to extend my contract with Zamalek. My problem has been resolved,” Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com on Thursday.
“I was just very unhappy that Zamalek fans deemed me responsible for the defeats against Ahli.
“But I'm ready now to return to Zamalek's starting line-up and feature in the upcoming game against Ahli.”
Zamalek host Ahli on September 14th in Champions League Group A action.
