Malawi technical director Jack Chamangwana believes his side should not be affected by playing under floodlights in their World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday. The Flames are worried that the artificial light could diminish their chances of causing another upset against six-time African champions Egypt. Malawi sprung a surprise by claiming a 1-0 home victory over Egypt last Saturday, thanks to a last-gasp volley from Chiukepo Msowoya. Although they are used to playing under the shiny sun, Chamangwana said his players are capable of coping with other conditions. "I don't think playing under floodlights should be a concern to us," Chamangwana was quoted as saying by local paper Nyasa Times on Friday. "We will have a chance to train at least two nights and normally, according to FIFA regulations, you are allowed to train one session under floodlights. "We will also manage to hire a ground in the evening where we shall be able to prepare once or twice." Experience Malawi striker Esau Kanyenda said that his national team boasts a number of experienced players who can deal with such conditions. "It's not a big deal to play at night," the Russian-based frontman insisted. "Most of the players who played in the first game against Egypt ply their trade in South Africa and they are used to playing under such situations." Kanyenda is confident Malawi could defeat the Pharaohs once again despite Cairo stadium's expected intimidating atmosphere. "We are going to Egypt to conclude the unfinished business we started at Kamuzu Stadium last Saturday," he added.
