Zamalek have refuted reports linking Tunisian defender Wissem El-Abdi to a move to Esperance. Tunisian media claimed that El-Abdi is approaching the Cairo club's exit door, and that Esperance are close to signing him. But the Whites' official web site stated that the former Sfaxien stopper is an 'important part of the team' ahead of next season. On the other hand, Esperance chairman Hamdi Meddeb was quoted by Al-Sabah newspaper as saying that El-Abdi is set to join the club, alongside Ahli's Anis Boujelbene. El-Abdi had a poor last season with Zamalek, as his lack of form and fitness was coupled by a series of injuries and suspensions.
