Chelsea's Ashley Cole picked up an ankle injury during Tuesday's training session and is doubtful for Wednesday's Cup final against Manchester United. The Blues full back collided with Claude Makelele and his absence could be a major blow for coach Avram Grant. Cole did return to training, but he failed to move freely and was eventually forced to make a premature exit. Chelsea said on a statement on their website: "In a challenge with Claude Makelele in front of hundreds of cameras and the world football press, Ashley Cole hurt his right ankle." Cole was tipped to control the Manchester United in-form winger Cristiano Ronaldo and now Grant may opt for Wayne Bridge. The England left back is playing his second Champions League as he played in Arsenal's 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in 2006.
