Middlesbrough's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky will play no further part this season after sustaining a back injury, the player's agent said on Thursday. "Shawky hurt his back in today's morning training session. He was taken to hospital to undergo scans and find out the extent of the injury," Nader Shawky told FilGoal.com. "He will not play again this season definitely. I hope it won't be a serious injury because Egypt's World Cup qualifying campaign is looming." Boro, who are yet to guarantee their top-flight safety, have two matches remaining in the Premiership. They will face Portsmouth and Manchester City. Egypt begin their 2010 World Cup qualifiers against DR Congo at Cairo Stadium on the first of June. Shawky's compatriot Mido also sustained a serious injury last month and was ruled out of action until the season's end.
