Zamalek assistant coach Mohamed Helmi described his side's first-half display against Ghazl Mahalla as the best over the past few years. The Cairo giants moved into second spot in the Egyptian League table following a 2-1 away victory over Mahalla on Thursday. The visitors went two up after ten minutes, thanks to a brace from forward Gamal Hama. They also squandered several chances to extend the gap before halftime. "The players put in an impressive display in the first-half. It was our best performance for years," Helmi told Zamalek's official website after the game. "We created numerous chances and could have ended the first-half five up but we were unlucky." Helmi also said that Zamalek's unconvincing performance in the second period was down to exhaustion. "Zamalek are the only team to play every three days. The players deserve credit for securing all three points," he added.
