Egypt jumped only six places in the monthly FIFA ranking for national teams, after the Pharaohs recent African Cup of Nations achievement. The CAN 2008 champions are deemed as the continent's fourth best as they moved up to 29th place, while other semi-finalists have surprisingly achieved more progress. Third-placed Ghana moved up 29 places, Ivory Coast jumped 14 places, and runners-up Cameroon advanced eight spots. Ghana's progress saw them lying in 14th place, which is considered their best ever rank. The top five teams remained with no changes as Argentina lead the way, followed by Brazil and Italy.
