Guinea rocked Africa with some mouth-watering performances during the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, a campaign which made them the tournament's Dark Horse. The Syli Nationale managed to amass maximum points from a very tough Group C including South Africa, Zambia and Tunisia. Their top display came when they outclassed then holders Tunisia 3-0 in a game which witnessed some heroics from lethal trio Pascal Feindouno, Fode Mansare and Ismail Bangoura. It is obvious that Guinea were making massive progress throughout the last couple of tournaments, where they reached the quarter-finals for the first time since their 1976 second-place achievement in Ethiopia. However, Robert Nouzaret's men will face a tricky task when they tackle hosts Ghana and Arab giants Morocco in Group A. Manager: Robert Nouzaret
Nouzaret The Frenchman guided the Guineans to the Ghana finals after taking over from compatriot Patrice Neveu, who left the Syli Nationale to take charge of Egypt's Ismaili in February. Despite leading Guinea to a fine campaign in Egypt 2006, Neveu enjoyed a poor start to the Ghana 2008 qualifying campaign, leaving the task to Nouzaret. Nouzaret had two spells with Ivory Coast in 1996 and 2002, but he only managed to reach CAN 1998 quarter-finals, before being knocked out by the then champions Egypt. He also failed to reach the 2004 Nations Cup in Tunisia with the Elephants, after which he got sacked immediately. Nouzaret's career highlight was winning the French League Cup with Montpellier in 1992. Watch Pascal Feindouno's Highlights Star Player: Pascal Feindouno
