Football Association of Zambia (ZAF) president Teddy Mulonga is not worried his nation will have to overcome some of the continent's giants during the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Zambia were drawn in Group C along with defending Champions Egypt, four-time winners Cameroon and in-form Sudan. "We've met these opponents in the past and ably handled them," Mulonga was quoted as saying by Times of Zambia paper on Friday. Mulonga also believes Zambia have a fair chance of lifting the prestigious trophy in Ghana despite being rated as one of the underdogs. "This is the best team at the moment. We qualified to the Africa Cup on merit. We were not done any favor, but we are among the 16 best teams on the continent." "Our chances at the Africa Cup are as equal as any other team that qualified," he added. Egypt defeated Zambia four times in CAN competitions while The Chipolopolo won just twice. Mulonga has called on Zambian people to support head coach Patrick Phiri, whom he believes has chosen the best possible squad. The Pharaohs, who hold the record for most CAN triumphs with five titles, face Zambia on January 30th in Kumasi.
