Liverpool embarrass Newcastle at St. James' Park
Published in FilGoal on 24 - 11 - 2007

Liverpool claimed a deserved 3-0 over Newcastle in the Premiership game at St. James' Park on Saturday.
The Reds were inspired by a virtuoso performance from captain Steven Gerrard, who scored the opener in spectacular fashion, before setting up Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babbel.
Gerrard fired in a blockbusting free kick in the 28th minute to beat Shay Given and give the visitors the lead.
One minute into the second half, the England midfielder swung in an inviting corner, which awkwardly hit Kuyt's leg into the back of the net.

Torres was out of form
Substitute Babel rounded off the victory on 66 minutes, when he exchanged passes with Gerrard before steering home past the hapless Given.
Torres Nightmare
Despite the more than satisfactory result, manager Rafa Benitez has every reason to be upset with his compatriot Fernando Torres, who had an awful evening.
The score line could have been far more comprehensive for Benitez's men, hadn't the record signing Torres missed a handful of chances.
The talented forward, who was struggling to find his usual clinical finish, seemed to be having a day-off, but Benitez refused to take him off before the end of the game.
