Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved issued an apology for causing an injury to Inter Milan's Luis Figo during the Serie A 1-1 draw on Sunday. The Czech playmaker committed a rough challenge on the Inter winger, which forced the latter to leave the pitch with a fractured fibula. However, Nedved insisted that his challenge on the Portuguese was not malicious and that he is sorry for the outcome of his tackle. "It was completely accidental and I was trying to get the ball," Nedved said. "I'm really sorry that this happened. It didn't mean to hurt Luis and I have already cleared things up with him. I hope he returns as soon as possible." Ironically, the Inter game marked Nedved's return from a two-match ban for elbowing an opponent against Genoa. Nasty challenge Inter chairman Massimo Moratti blasted Nedved after the tense derby in Turin, as he claimed that the former Lazio man did not have to do it. "He didn't get injured by himself, it was a very nasty and avoidable foul," said the Inter chief. Inter announced that Figo will undergo leg surgery on Tuesday, and the 35-year-old is expected to face a lengthy layoff.
