Masri's Arab Champions League debut turned out to be a disaster after they suffered a stunning 1-0 home defeat to Syrian side Al-Taliya in the first-leg of the competition's round of 32. Younis Soliman scored the winner in the 70th minute to silence the Port Said faithful and help Al-Taliya edge closer to securing their place in the second round. Al-Taliya's victory is the first for any Syrian club since the ACL was launched in 2003. Pressure will be mounted on Masri manager Helmi Toulan following the team's stuttering start in the Egyptian League, despite signing a host of players. Masri lie tenth in the league table with just four points from four matches.
