Manchester United have denied reports claiming that Tottenham Hotspur's striker Dimitar Berbatov is on line to join the Red Devils one week before the transfer deadline. Recent rumors suggested that the Bulgarian ace has fallen out with manager Martin Jol and that United labeled him to replace the long-term injured Wayne Rooney. However, United and Spurs dismissed the possibility that Berbatov could move to Old Trafford in the near future. "We have categorically not made a bid for Dimitar Berbatov." United Chief Executive David Gill said in a denial statement. Spurs also added: "We have not received an offer and would not accept one if we did - it is as simple as that." The English champions made an inquiry to Spurs about the 26-year old striker this summer, but their bid was totally rejected by the London club.
