Birmingham boss Steve Bruce said on Wednesday that Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' would be a valuable addition to his side's squad. The Tottenham Hotspur frontman told FilGoal.com recently that Spurs and Birmingham have reached an agreement that will see Mido move to St Andrews on a one-year loan deal. "I believe we have signed an absolute top-class striker," Bruce was quoted as saying by the Daily Star. "He was a big hit when he arrived in the Premiership and we hope that he can recapture that form with us." Mido is known for his bad-boy image, but Bruce believes he can handle his temperament. "His reputation? He's definitely got something about him - he'll be a challenge - but that doesn't worry me at all," he told the Birmingham mail.
Ghaly may bring curtain down on Tottenham spell "I think the Birmingham fans like someone who is a bit of a hot-head. We all do, don't we? Yes, his make-up is not the same as most, but he's still a very decent boy, let me tell you." Former Ajax Amsterdam and Celta Vigo man Mido enjoyed a superb form with Tottenham in the 2005/2006 season when he was on loan from Italy's AS Roma. He then joined Tottenham on permanent basis but persistent injuries have prevented him from making a notable impact last season, especially after the arrival of Bulgarian hitman Dimitar Berbatov. Mido's compatriot and teammate Hossam Ghaly is also expected to join the newly-promoted Birmingham. Ghaly was in fine form in the first half of the season but his relationship with Tottenham's Dutch boss Martin Jol strained after the Egypt midfielder threw his shirt when he was substituted in a Premiership game against Blackburn Rovers.
