Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido' is unlikely to join Birmingham next season after the newly-promoted side failed to meet his wage demands. Although Birmingham have agreed a £6m fee with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Mido, the 24-year-old striker told FilGoal.com on Wednesday that he rejected certain clauses in the contract offered by the Blues. It seems Mido's wage demands were not accepted by Steve Bruce's side. "The Mido deal is a million miles away from happening," Bruce said on Thursday. "It's more than just personal terms. There are a few issues. It's a big blow and I have felt better. The more quality players you can sign, the better. "It looks as if we're really struggling with the Mido deal and I might have to look elsewhere."
Hossam Ghaly This is the second time the former Ajax and Marseille man's wage demands block him from moving out of White Hart Lane. Mido was on the verge of completing a move to Fulham after holding a meeting with the club's chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed only for the deal to collapse after the Londoners learned his wage demands. It remains to be seen whether Mido will stay with Tottenham despite failing to secure a place in Martin Jol's starting line-up. The arrival of Darren Bent in addition to the superb form of striking duo Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane would make it very difficult for Mido to break through. On the other hand, Bruce is hopeful of wrapping up a deal with Spurs to sign Mido's compatriot Hossam Ghaly. "As for Ghaly, it's faltering a little but I'm still hopeful of reviving that deal. I haven't given up hope," he said. Ghaly's relationship with Dutchman Jol strained after the Egypt midfielder threw his shirt when he was substituted in a Premiership game against Blackburn Rovers.
