Saudi Arabia thrashed Gulf rivals Bahrain 4-0 in the final Group D match of the 2007 AFC Asian Cup to book their place in the quarter-finals as group leaders. The Saudi team was 2-0 up in the first half thanks to strikes from Ahmed Al-Moussa and Abdul-Rahman Al-Qahtani. In the second half it was one man show, as midfielder Taisir Al-Jassim grabbed a fine brace and had a couple of chances to complete his hat-trick, but he failed. In the other group match, Korea Republic edged co-hosts Indonesia 1-0 to make their way into the last eight thanks to a first-half goal from Kim Jung-Woo. Unbeaten Saudi Arabia finished top of the group with seven points, Korea come second with four, while Bahrain and Indonesia crash out with three points each.
