The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have denied on Thursday that Zamalek will not be allowed to participate in the Egyptian Super Cup in August. Zamalek were deprived of taking part in last year's Super Cup for skipping the awards' ceremony after losing the Egyptian Cup title to Ahli. Reports have said that the ban will last for two seasons, which means the Cairo giants can not play in this year's competition. However, EFA spokesman Medhat Shalabi has denied all claims, insisting that Zamalek will face Ahli in the Super Cup on the ninth of August. Zamalek are scheduled to play in this year's edition despite finishing second in the Egyptian League as Ahli have clinched the domestic double for the second successive season. The men in white will miss striker Amr Zaki, who was sent-off in Zamalek's 4-3 defeat to Ahli in the cup final, while the Red Devils will have to do without defender Emad Al-Nahhas due to suspension.
