Al-Wasl won the UAE League title for first time in 10 years after thrashing 10-man Ahli Dubai 6-2 to complete the double following their cup triumph at the expense of Al-Ain. Ahli's French striker Gregory Dufrennes grabbed the lead as early as the second minute but was cancelled out by Salah Abbas strike in the 16th minute. Brazilian striker Anderson Carvalho put his side ahead in the 30th minute before adding the third six minutes later. Dubai hopes were dealt a blow after Dufrennes was sent-off for verbally abusing the assistant referee. However, Ahli managed to pull one back in the 75th minute through Ibrahim Neswar but Khaled Darwish's strike ten minutes from time killed off their hopes. Carvalho notched twice in the last five minutes to complete his hat-trick and lead Al-Wasl to their seventh league title in history. Al-Wasl have recently clinched the UAE Cup after crushing Al-Ain 4-1 in the competition's final.
