Barcelona, Sevilla and Real Madrid have all registered victories in the Primera Liga on Sunday to keep up their title pursuit. Title holders Barcelona remained in charge of the table with 62 points, one ahead of Sevilla and two clear of third-placed Real Madrid. At the Nou Camp, Samuel Eto'o's strike in the 28th minute was enough to give Barcelona an easy 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Levante. Levante keeper Jose Polina parried Ronaldinho's close-range effort into the path of the Cameroonian striker, who slotted home into the empty net. Sevilla remained in Barca's trail courtesy of a 3-1 home win over the other Catalan representative Espanyol. Antonio Puerta, Ernesto Chevanton and Jose Luis Marti scored for the hosts in the second-half while Ferran Corominas grabbed Espanyol's only goal.
Van Nistelrooy notched a brace A double salvo from Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy led Real Madrid to a crushing 4-1 away victory over Athletic Bilbao. Spanish international defender Sergio Ramos opened the score line in the 14th minute when he headed home David Beckham's pinpoint free-kick. Van Nistelrooy doubled the lead in the 34th minute with another close-range header after connecting with a cross from Brazilian right-back Cicinho, who was included in the starting line-up for the first time since recovering from injury. Former Manchester United hitman Van Nistelrooy was on target again five minutes after re-start, hitting a powerful shot into the back of the net from inside the area. Fernando Llorente pulled one back ten minutes from time before Guti completed the rout for Los Meringues three minutes later.
