Egypt head coach Hassan Shehata decided to punish striker Emad Meteb by taking away his winning bonus for the Mauritania game following his inappropriate behavior. Shehata handed in a request to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to deprive the Ahli forward of the team bonus after Egypt's 3-0 win over Mauritania. The EFA approved Shehata's request and confirmed the penalty even though Meteb apologized on Tuesday for his part in the incident which saw him gesturing to the fans with his boots in reaction to the joint abuse by the home fans. Meteb scored 11 goals in 25 appearances for the national team so far, and the 24-year-old striker was shown the first red card of his career during the Mauritania game.
