Ahli moved a step closer towards a third consecutive Egyptian league title following a 2-0 win over Masri at Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday. Islam Al-Shater put the hosts ahead early in the first-half before Angolan striker Flavio Amado ensured the victory seven minutes from time. The African champions remain on top of the table with 62 points, 11 ahead of second-placed Ismaili who defeated Tersana 1-0 earlier on Wednesday. The Red Devils needed only five minutes to take the lead through Al-Shater. The right back slotted the ball from close range after Tunisian midfielder Anis Boujelbene skipped from the right hand side of Masri's area and played a low cross past tricked keeper Haytham Mohamed. Masri striker Saied Rabie and Ahli winger Tarek Al-Saied both headed for an early bath in the 23rd minute, seeing red cards for a row of pushes. Ashour Al-Adham struck from the far right six minutes past the half-hour mark but his effort went over the bar of Essam Al-Hadari. Early In the second period, Ahli substitute Hossam Ashour fired a long range shot that missed the target. Three minutes later, Ahmed Belal played a neat give-and-go with Emad Meteb but his late cross found no teammates to connect. Emad Al-Nahhas headed Ahmed Shedid's free-kick straight to the hands of Masri keeper Mohamed on 70 minutes. Flavio sealed the victory seven in the 83rd minute with a curling shot from inside the area, surpassing teammate Meteb at the top of Egyptian Premier League scoring charts with 17 goals. Oumarou Sanda missed the chance to grab a consolation goal for Masri deep into stoppage time from as his close-range effort went poorly into Al-Hadari's hands.
