Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan's future has been the subject of intense speculation following his announcement that he may return to Egypt at the end of the season after a 10-year spell in Europe. Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure has recently said that Anderlecht officials are fighting to keep the 31-year old midfielder at the club. Hassan spoke exclusively to FilGoal.com regarding his plans for the upcoming period. Q- We have read in the Belgian press that Anderlecht officials are exerting a lot of efforts to keep you at the club, Are there any recent developments? A-That's true, I've informed the club's director of my intention to leave Anderlecht at the end of the season, but the man showed great determination to keep me as he asked about my problems and offered to help and even revealed the club is ready to increase my yearly salary, that made me really flattered. At the end, he told me Anderlecht will accept my decision whatever it is, saying the fans will never forget the impact I had.
Hassan may leave Anderlecht Q- What was your response? A- I thanked him and promised to consider all options before making a final decision. However, what really pleased me is that I paved the way for Egyptian players to play in Belgium by creating a good reputation about Arab footballers, as I did before in Turkey. Q- Don't you think that your spell in Belgium was too short to see you labeled ‘a fans' favorite'? A- I would like to thank God for all what I have done over the past eight months, to see love in people's eyes is something priceless. Q- Where do you expect to play next season? A- I'm still thinking about a return to Egypt, though I may lose a lot, but I miss the home warmness.
